一、進退維谷

意思是無論是進還是退，都是處在困境之中，維相當于“是”，谷比喻“困境”。與“進退兩難”同義，可以翻譯為“be thrown into a dilemma”。與英文習語“between a rock and a hard place;between the devil and the deep blue sea”意思相近，表示“between two equally difficult or unacceptable choices”。

我下不了決心，陷入了進退維谷的境地。

I couldn\'t make up my mind. I was caught between a rock and a hard place.

他顯然進退維谷。

He was clearly between the devil and the deep blue sea.

當你不得不在事業和感情之間做出選擇時，真的是進退兩難。

一、殺青

殺青本是古代制作竹簡的程序之一，古時把書寫在竹簡上，為防蟲蛀須先用火烤干水分，叫殺青(dry green bamboo strips on the fire before writing on them)，后泛指寫定著作(completion of a book manuscript)。

在現代漢語中，“殺青”一般指影視作品完成了前期的拍攝工作，也可以表示演員或者劇組結束了工作?？梢杂糜⑽膯卧~“wrap”來表示，有“finish filming or recording”的含義。

三天后，我們如期殺青了。

We wrapped on schedule three days later.

這部電影計劃下周殺青。

The movie is scheduled to wrap next week.

二、板上釘釘

本義指在石板上釘上鐵釘(nail the slate with nails)，比喻事情已經決定，不能改變或事情已經成了事實。與英文慣用語“cast in stone”意思相近，表示“Completely set, unchangeable; not subject to any amendment or alteration”。

他只是提出這個觀點供討論，事情還沒板上釘釘。

He is merely throwing the idea forward for discussion. It is not cast in stone.

雖然我很想參加，但是我得去出差。而且我知道，日期已經不能再改，是板上釘釘的事了。

While I really want to attend the party, I\'ll be on a business trip. And I understand the date of the ceremony can\'t be changed. It\'s cast in stone.

三、懸崖勒馬

意思是在高高的山崖邊上勒住馬(draw [rein] in one\'s horse at the edge of a cliff)。比喻到了危險的邊緣及時清醒回頭(desist from doing something before it is too late)，可以翻譯為“pull back before it is too late”。

現在是你懸崖勒馬的時候了。

Now is the time for you to pull back before it is too late.

犯罪分子應當迷途知返，懸崖勒馬，不要在錯誤的道路上繼續走下去。

The criminals should stop on the precipice, retract from the wrong path and not go any further.
